Dear Guests
I am sure you are aware of Hurricane Ian which crashed into the west coast of Florida last Wednesday. You have seen a lot of destroyed houses, flooded roads and mass destruction in Fort Myers Beach. Sanibel causeway is destroyed and there’s no access by car to the island.
At this point I wanted to provide to you some information regarding Cape Coral, the neighborhood and the house.
Speaking for Cape Coral the hurricane has hit us hard, but not as hard as the pictures from the news about Fort Myers Beach. Our main roads are already mainly cleared from debris, palms and trees. Freshwater was cut but is already back in some parts and the local electric supplier is working 24/7 to restore the power. Publix, Home Depot and other stores are open again.
Houses in Cape Coral are mostly built out of concrete and storm proof for wind speeds over 150 mph. Speaking for our neighborhood (South East: Beach Parkway, 41st Street) the Houses don’t have much damage. Some shingles blew away from the roof and some screens are gone. No flooding occurred. The landscaping and the streets look pretty good.
In my own opinion I am astonished how good our street looks like. As only a strong wind has occurred.
We were lucky. Our House is only missing 4 screen fields and some shingles. The rest of the house is intact and has no damage. Even the landscaping is looking gaod, no palm or tree was put down. The boat dock and lift is fully ok and the boat has no damage.
Cape Coral is working hard on repairing and clearing the debris. For my part, as soon as construction companies start working again we will do our best to get a company for re-installing the missing screen parts and shingles on the roof.
As for now, there is nothing else I can give you an update about. Our target is to provide to you the best possible experience for your stay. The house is fully habitable as soon as power is back there.
